Pour
The walls get poured!! It was so fun to watch. The trucks were coming in all day, it is a LOT of cement to fill up those walls.

The last few days have been kinda crazy…
Block shipments were delayed because of us, then them, then broken trucks. Then they arrived suddenly when we weren’t expecting them until later that evening. My “Aunt” arrived on that same day, it is nice to have everyone here finally.
There was a bit of a learning curve on the first window, but the guys are experts now!
The weather was “Africa hot” for several days and they had to keep very hydrated, and take breaks every hour or so since they are working in a giant white styrofoam box. Today it is much cooler and overcast so it has been a nice break.
They are finishing up the last layer of block all the way around the top and threading re-bar down vertically through the 12 feet of block and tied re-bar now. Tomorrow they will cut the holes for all of the vents and things that have to go out through that basement level. Then the professionals come in the afternoon and brace everything to get ready for the pour. I believe that means the pour will happen on Friday!

The walls are growing! You can see the semi come on the morning of the 11th in the back left corner to deliver more blocks. It was very hot those two days so they had to take breaks to keep from getting over heated in the glaring white box. I think we will have to move the camera again!

6/8/13 2nd part of wall
This is the next section of wall going down into the pit. I have some editing to do on the first part so that section is missing for now…
First blocks
This is the first row of blocks going around. The guy in the blue shirt going around the outside with a drill, drilling into the concrete for the re-bar while the guys learn how to set the first row of blocks.
