The last few days have been kinda crazy…
Block shipments were delayed because of us, then them, then broken trucks. Then they arrived suddenly when we weren’t expecting them until later that evening. My “Aunt” arrived on that same day, it is nice to have everyone here finally.
There was a bit of a learning curve on the first window, but the guys are experts now!
The weather was “Africa hot” for several days and they had to keep very hydrated, and take breaks every hour or so since they are working in a giant white styrofoam box. Today it is much cooler and overcast so it has been a nice break.
They are finishing up the last layer of block all the way around the top and threading re-bar down vertically through the 12 feet of block and tied re-bar now. Tomorrow they will cut the holes for all of the vents and things that have to go out through that basement level. Then the professionals come in the afternoon and brace everything to get ready for the pour. I believe that means the pour will happen on Friday!
I feel so bad! We were literally about 5 miles from here on Tuesday. As usual time was running out though. It was getting late. We wanted to get back to Sturgis before dark & I had spent my 1st long day away from Evan. 😦 Looks great and can’t wait to see the finished product!
It is really coming along! They are actually pouring right now (Wednesday the 19th) and there have been cement trucks coming every 30 minutes or so since about 10am.
